NUGA Partners NOC to host 2nd Olympic Value Education Programme (OVEP)

The Nigerian University games association in collaboration with the Nigerian Olympic committee will hold its second Olympic value education program from the 14th – 17th of July 2021 at the University of Uyo Akwa Ibom state.

The program according to the Olympic movement is a series of free and accessible teaching resources that have been created by the IOC. Using the context of Olympic sports and the core principles of Olympism, participants are encouraged to experience values-based learning and to assume the responsibilities of good citizenship. It communicates the benefit of sport and physical activity through an understanding of Olympism and its impact

Due to the pandemic regulations and ease of travel, the event will be held regionally, with Uyo in Akwa-Ibom state and universities in the region taking part in this first installment. The event will have Ten Universities in attendance with each institution presenting 2 males and 2 females athletes.

Universities invited to attend this session includes hosts University of Uyo, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Port Harcourt, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers state University, Akwa-Ibom state University, Imo state University, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike Abia state, and Gregory University Uturu Abia state.

The first Nigerian Olympic Value Education programme with student athletes took place in three universities with Lagos state University, Delta state University and the University of Abuja hosting the different regional sessions between March and November 2020.
