The Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) has announced the 3rd Intake of the FASU International Volunteering Programme, Youth Leadership Training and Mentorship Programme, to be held in conjunction with the 12th All Africa University Games 2026 in Cairo, Egypt.
The programme offers young people within the African University Sports Movement an opportunity to gain practical experience at a major international university sports event while developing leadership and professional skills, building international networks and contributing to the successful delivery of the Games.
The programme is open to young people aged 18 to 28 years, with a total of 10 volunteers to be selected. Selected volunteers will work with the FASU Secretariat in different areas of the Games, according to their experience, interests and areas of expertise. These areas include event and team support, accommodation, Secretariat support, accreditation, competition management, team liaison and technical support, as well as hospitality, media and logistics. Volunteers may also support media operations, social media management, photography, hospitality and logistics, alongside fan engagement, ceremonies, language interpretation and other general event responsibilities. Applicants are encouraged to indicate their preferred department and role based on their skills, experience and expertise.
The volunteering programme will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 8 to 16 September 2026. Selected volunteers are expected to arrive in Cairo on 7 September, participate in the programme and Games from 8 to 16 September, and depart on 17 September 2026. FASU will provide full board accommodation at the FASU Games Village and internal transportation during the Games. Selected volunteers, however, will be responsible for their own international travel and transportation costs to and from Cairo and must confirm their ability to meet these costs if selected.
Interested applicants are required to submit an application letter, an updated Curriculum Vitae and details including their full name, country, preferred department and role, relevant experience or expertise, and confirmation of their ability to cover travel expenses to and from Cairo if selected. Applications should use the subject format Full Name, Country, FASU International Volunteers Program 2026.
Applications must be received by the FASU Secretariat no later than Friday, 14 August 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered, and only 10 candidates will be shortlisted for the programme.
FASU is encouraging passionate, committed and motivated young people across the African University Sports Movement to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of the 12th All Africa University Games while gaining valuable international experience, strengthening their leadership capacities, developing professional networks and becoming part of the growing FASU volunteer community.
For young people interested in university sports, events, media, leadership, hospitality, logistics and international volunteering, the programme provides an opportunity to learn through direct involvement in a major continental university sports event.
