Student Athlete John Gift Manayi Champions Leadership and Sporting Excellence
John Gift Manayi of the Federal University Dutse has continued to make her mark in Nigerian university sports through her achievements as a student athlete and sports leader, earning recognition as NUGA Titan of the Week for her contributions to badminton and student sports development.
A student leader with a passion for badminton and track and field, Gift has combined competitive performance with sports administration, becoming the first female elected Sports Director of the Students Union Government SUG at the Federal University Dutse. Through her leadership, she has remained committed to expanding opportunities for student athletes while promoting greater participation in sports within her institution.
Among her notable achievements is winning a bronze medal in badminton at the 27th NUGA Games hosted by the University of Jos in 2025. Beyond competition, she founded Sporty Fudites, a university sports community established to strengthen sports participation and engagement among students.
Under her leadership, several initiatives have contributed to the growth of sports at the Federal University Dutse. These include organising sporting competitions within and outside the university, increasing female athlete participation by 100 percent, and introducing the institutions first ever Student Athlete Choice Awards through the Sporty Fudites initiative.
