Future Sport Leaders Gather at FISU Academy Korea

The 2026 FISU Academy Korea brought together 40 undergraduate and postgraduate students from across the Republic of Korea for a two day leadership programme focused on developing the next generation of university sport leaders.

Organised by the International University Sports Federation FISU, the residential academy was held from 15 to 16 July 2026 at the Seoul Olympic Parktel. The programme was designed to strengthen participants understanding of international university sport while encouraging leadership development, networking, and the exchange of ideas.

The academy featured sessions on the structure and activities of FISU, the FISU Student Ambassador Programme, and the role of young professionals in shaping the future of university sport. Participants also engaged in discussions and team activities centred on Chungcheong 2027 and the promotion of the values of university sport.

Among the invited speakers was Adebayo Olatunde, a Nigerian sport administrator, member of the FISU Education and Student Committee, and alumnus of the Dream Together Masters Programme at Seoul National University.

Drawing from his journey in university sports, Olatunde delivered a presentation titled The Role of Young Professionals in Shaping University Sport. His session explored how volunteering, student leadership, and active participation in university sport can serve as pathways to professional growth and long term contributions to the sports industry.

Through practical experiences and personal reflections, he encouraged participants to embrace opportunities to develop leadership skills, build meaningful networks, and contribute to the advancement of university sport within their respective communities.

The academy reflected FISUs continued commitment to preparing young leaders for the future of international university sport by providing learning opportunities that combine education, collaboration, and practical engagement.

As preparations continue for future international university sporting events, initiatives such as the FISU Academy remain an important platform for equipping students and young professionals with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives required to contribute meaningfully to the global university sports movement.
