CVCNU and NUGA to Host 2-Day Sports Administrators Clinic in Abuja
The Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities CVCNU, in collaboration with the Nigerian University Games Association NUGA, the National Sports Commission NSC, and the Business of Sports Institute Africa BOS Institute, will host a 2 Day Sports Administrators Clinic from March 11 to 12, 2026, at the CVCNU Secretariat, Wuse 2, Abuja.
The clinic, themed Catalyzing the Future: Strategic Restructuring and Professionalization of Nigerian University Sports, is designed to strengthen how university sports are managed across Nigeria.
It will focus on practical areas such as governance, sponsorship, marketing, and strategic planning, helping sports administrators improve operations and align with modern standards. The sessions will also encourage collaboration between universities and national sports bodies.
The facilitators for the programme include Beverley Agbakoba Onyejianya, Founder and Academic Director of the Business of Sports Institute Africa, who will serve as Lead Trainer. Honourable Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission, and Ugochukwu Osuji, Chief Operating Officer of MediaVision Limited, will lead sessions on sports marketing.
The programme is targeted at Directors of Sports, university administrators, and key stakeholders in university sports. It is expected to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to improve sports systems, attract partnerships, and drive growth within their institutions.
Overall, the initiative reflects a strong commitment to building a more structured, sustainable, and competitive university sports system in Nigeria.
